“Krakensong” from The Realm Beneath wins a Realm Award!

This weekend, “Krakensong,” one of the seven short stories featured in The Realm Beneath anthology, won a Realm Award at the Realm Makers conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

(Yes, that’s the word Realm three times in a row but there’s no way around it.)

Olivia Gratehouse, an up-and-coming author who also just debuted her first novelette, received the first-place award in the Short Story category. The Realm Awards are a fierce competition with hundreds of entries—just the “long list” of first-tier finalists for this category included eighteen stories. But “Krakensong” rose to the top like a … well, like a kraken, I would think, tentacles and all.

“Krakensong” is about an orc named Nör who sets out to kill a kraken but ends up with more than she bargains for. It’s the fourth story in The Realm Beneath and offers high-stakes adventure with fresh worldbuilding.

The other Realm Beneath authors and I are just over the moon for our mer-sister Olivia. (Also, that's another win for the Orc/Goblin Fellowship!)

Congratulations, my friend Olivia! We're so proud of you!
